UNLV Pirate Party

February 26th me and Shley went to the university's Pirate Party :]!
Delicious mystery brownies. Caricatures. Hilarious magic show (i'm not sure how that was piratey). Aaaand a costume contest. Yours truly won the costume contest... guess what my grand prize was... the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy. Now I own 3 of each film >_< backups right??
Shley placed too... and won the movie 'Hook' which she already owned too. Seriously, UNLV, you need to invest in some better prizes.
After that we went to Treasure Island in our pirate costumes. People kept asking us if we worked there, haha. We ate delicious tiramisu and cannoli cake... and got hit on by drunk gamblers. Awesomesauce night <3

Ultimate Fan Event

So about 3 weeks ago (Feb.19th) I went to the Alice In Wonderland Ultimate Fan Event. It was last minute... a ton of stuff wasn't finished on my costume... I had no clue what to pack... it made things exciting.
My mom was cool enough to take me :] I wore the bright green Hatter contacts the whole way there... we stopped to get breakfast and this dude asked if my eyes were real. I wonder about people some times...
We got to Hollywood super duper early and checked into our hotel which was sooo close to Hollywood and Highland where the event was held. My mom and I walked up and down Hollywood Blvd doing touristy things; taking photos of the walk of fame, the scenery, old buildings. There was Star Trek murals everywhere on the corner where Leonard Nimoy's star was. My inner nerd was having the best time ever.
We went to the Hot Topic that was hosting the event to check it out. It was like falling down the rabbit hole. No carpet... you were walking on grass and leaves. Tea tables, the Hatter's chair, the Red Queen's kingdom, trees and mushrooms scattered about, disappearing Cheshire cat, it was all so amazing. The Hot Topic employees were even into the spirit of things wearing Wonderland costumes they had thrown together.
I did some more shopping and pre-ordered Almost Alice so I could go to the 3OH!3 meet and greet. Somewhere in the following 3 hours, I managed to shower, get into costume, and hit the streets again. This time it was crazy. It was about 10am, so more people were on the street than before. Everyone wanted a picture with me. It was so unexpected... but pleasant. Everyone was so nice. Another unexpected thing... they tip you for pictures! Lucky me.
Getting to see 3OH!3 again was awesome. It was a freakin' obstactle course to get to where they were doing the signing, but eventually we made it :] When it was finally my turn to get my stuff signed, they actually stopped and talked with me for awhile about my costume and contacts and kept giving me compliments on how cool everything came out. It was sooo cool coming from them. Instead of just signing their names, like they were doing with everyone else, they actually took the time to personalize it. So nice... I love them so much.
After that, I met up with Acme <3 in the VIP section!! His costume was amazinggg. We did interviews and different tv stations and websites wanted photos of us. He introduced me to Scarlett Harlott... i had a fangirl moment. She was so sweet and nice! I got photos with her and big huge hugs... she remembered me from myspace... it made me feel sooo cool.
Later me and someone dressed up as the Red Queen's Knight chatted and he complimented my costume. He asked what my name was and shook my hand. Then, super dramatically, he takes off his mask and says "I'm Ronnie... Ronnie Rodriguez!" I almost died. The #1 Depp impersonator in the world was chatting with me like we were old friends.
The event started right after that. My mom and I made it up to the front of the stage. Kerli, Never Shout Never, Metro Station, and 3OH!3 all did sets. 3OH!3 mentioned me on stage... another highlight of my night. There was a break in which I got to meet Traci Hines (who was dressed up as an adorable Red Queen) and Phillip DeFranco from Youtube. After that Tim Burton and the WHOLE cast... minus Alan Rickman :[! ... came up on stage for interviews and such. Depp was about 15 feet away from us.
Our wristbands got us into the El Capitan theatre afterwards where they confiscated all cell phones and cameras. Tim Burton, Johnny Depp, and Colleen Atwood came out on stage to tell us that we weren't seeing the sneak peek as promised... we were seeing THE WHOLE MOVIE!!
Best day of my life.

It's Been Too Long

I've gotten so caught up with twitter and deviantART, that I haven't been posting on a weekly basis like I originally wanted to. :le sigh: Blogspot, we have so much catching up to do. The past 2 months have been pure bliss.
